We're featuring three CDs in our recently launched New Release Showcase section. The tracks from these discs are also getting plenty of spins on All About Jazz's companion radio station, The Jazz Excursion, so be sure to tune in.

This month we shine the AAJ spotlight on vibist Matthias Lupri's Same Time Twice, guitarist Jay Azzolina's Live at One Station Plaza, and Spyro Gyra keyboardist Tom Schuman's Into Your Heart.

We've posted links to CD reviews, links to their respective websites (listen to sound bytes and read their bios), and links to stores where you can purchase these fine discs. Check them out...

OCTOBER GREETINGS FROM AAJ

Visit our monthly welcome page, the quickest way to discover the latest happenings and noteworthy updates at All About Jazz.

This month we're proud to announce an interview with saxophonist/composer Wayne Shorter. As many of you know, Wayne Shorter lent his voice to Miles Davis's epochal hard bop quintet, went on to the high-voltage energy of Weather Report, and is still going strong. This month Fred Jung speaks candidly with Mr. Shorter about his music, his life, and his vision.

EXHIBITS GALORE!

New exhibits this month include Cross Hatch Jazz by Gil Gibli, Jazz-it! by Ziga Koritnik, Painting Live! by Nancy Ostrovsky, Catching Monk by Neal Barbosa, and Must See Jazz by John Ballon. More exhibits...

INTERVIEWS AND ARTIST PROFILES

In addition to our Wayne Shorter interview, AAJ also conducted a blindfold test with pianist/vocalist Dena DeRose, chatted with saxophonist John Tchicai, pianist Jason Moran, and singer Al Jarreau. Plus, classic interviews with saxophonists Chris Potter and Maceo Parker.

Look for artist profiles on saxophonist Joshua Redman, the late baritone saxophonist Nick Brignola, guitarist/composer Ken Hatfield, drummer Billy James, and pianist/educator Dr. Billy Taylor.
