If you've ever gotten smashed at Chicago's Oktoberfest celebration, no one has to tell you how much fun it is trying to dance to a polka band when you're barely able to stand up. Not that Heidi The German Babe From Berlin will let you sit down -- when Heidi wants to dance, Heidi wants to dance. Period. And when you take her to San Francisco, Heidi still wants to hear a polka band. One option is Bay Area polka band Polkacide, whose accordionist, Maggie Martin, is the brains behind Media Rare. This attractive site focuses on different things she's involved in -- not only polka, but also, graphic arts and web design. One of the most interesting parts of the site is Weird Gigs, a collection of anecdotes from musicians describing their experiences playing live. I didn't get Heidi The German Babe's opinion on the site, but where Heidi is concerned, I do know this much, dude: if you keep getting drunk at Oktoberfest, Heidi's going to pull your pants down and spank you. And that, of course, is incentive to keep getting drunk.
