The Vacation Telegram This couple was going away for their Christmas vacation, and they decided to leave the neighbor in charge of the cat. After a few days they received a telegram: "Your cat was run over by a car and died." The wife became very sad and depressed, as she was very attached to the cat. The husband sent a telegram to his neighbor saying that he shouldn't have send a telegram like this, but he should have broken the news more gently by first sending a telegram saying, for example, "Your cat went to play in the street," and a second telegram saying, "Your cat had an accident and is in intensive care," and then a third telegram saying, "Your cat died peacefully in a coma," or something like that. Three days later the husband received a telegram from the neighbor: "Your mother went to play in the street".
