| Chime Sound
Clicking this menu brings
up a second menu with four entries, each of which bring up a menu like
the one below on the right:
As you can see from the menu
on the left, we allow you to create a different chime for every quarter-hour.
On the right menu:
-
Clicking "None" means you want
no chime to sound.
-
Clicking "Talking" causes the
chime to be announced by a human voice.
-
Clicking "Ship's Bells" invokes
the Navy's traditional method of marking the passage of time. 12:00 is
eight bells, 12:30 is one bell, 1:00 is two, 1:30 is three, and so on,
adding a bell every half-hour until eight bells at 4:00. Then 4:30 is one
bell, and so on. Since most people don't need this feature, the bell sounds
are not included with the clock install program (to keep the download as
small as possible). If you want to use this feature, download
our bells from our site. This feature is only available on the hour
and half-hour, not at :15 or :45 minutes.
-
Clicking the entry just above
the horizontal line allows you to select a WAV file for the chime. You
can select any WAV file from any directory.
-
The clock also offers PC-speaker
sounds, which can be selected below the horizontal line. Note: the PC-speaker
sounds do not work correctly on some PCs. If you have multimedia options
installed, we recommend you use a WAV file for your clock sounds.
